Nigerian music star, 2face Idibia has donated N3.5 million to United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, to provide life saving assistance for the internally displaced people in Africa.
The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by Mr Hanson Tamfu, External Relations Officer, UNHCR, Nigeria, on Monday in Abuja.
2face through ‘2face Foundation’ has partnered several charity organisations before, but this is the highest.
The ‘African Queen’ singer, who had a sore throat after his performance at a Lagos concert over the weekend, visited the UNHCR office in Lagos on February 27 for the announcement with his manager, Efe Omoregbe.
2face is the first Nigerian entertainer to support the fundraising campaign in Nigeria where over 1.8 million people are displaced. In his words he said
‘I am proud to support the UN Refugee Agency because its proven track record of being at the fore front of displacement emergency,’
The singer also announced a charity concert – planned to hold in June – to raise more funds for the IDPs whilst offering royalties from his music.
