Happy Birthday to Osita Iheme, Funke Akindele and Ebiere

Three Nigeria great entertainers were born this day, Nollywood actor Osita Iheme, Gospel Singer Ebiere and Nollywood actress Funke Akindele. Here is a little info of how they started.


Osita iheme (Born on 24th August 1982)

Famous for the role of ‘Pawpaw’ in the movie Aki na Ukwa along Chinedu Ikedieze, Osita iheme has carved a place in Nollywood were he can be described as one of the best actors in Nollywood.

He was born in Mbaitoli, imo State into a family were he has four siblings. H completed his basic education in Abia State. Then he graduated from the Enugu State University, where his specialization was Mass Communication.

In 2007 Osita received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards. In 2011, he was honored as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR)


Funke Akindele (born 24th August 1976)

Born in Ikorodu, Lagos, she is the second of three children (two girls and one boy). Her mother is a medical doctor while her father is a retired school principal. 

She obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and got a Law degree from the University of Lagos.

Funke came to limelight after featuring in popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sponsored sitcom; I Need to Know, which ran from 1998 to 2002. She played Bisi, a curious but highly intelligent secondary school student. Funke Akindele’s big break came in 2009 from the movie titled Jenifa. Funke Akindele has over a 100 movies to her credit as actress, writer and producer.


Ebiere (born 24th August 1980).

Ebiere was born and raised in the city of Port Harcourt to a Family where her Dad was a Journalist and Politician while her mom was a Teacher but now a Pastor. She had her Nursery, Primary, secondary and University education in Port Harcourt.

She started singing at the age of 8 when she joined her church Choir. She has so far performed alongside other big names in the Nigerian Gospel Scene like Sinach, Samsong, Mike Aremu, Asu Ekiye, Nathaniel Bassey e.t.c.

In 2006 she released her Album “why me” then in 2015 she released another “Holy Spirit“.
